Rulebreaker MTG

About Rulebreaker MTG

An independent fan reference for the eight Rulebreaker commanders from Mystery Booster Commander Edition. Our goal is to explain what you can put in a deck, why it qualifies, and which Commander restrictions still apply.

How we verify content

  1. Check the card’s Oracle text and characteristics against Scryfall. The card image may show older printed wording; Oracle text takes precedence.
  2. Check Wizards of the Coast release notes and updates for card-specific explanations, legality dates, and rules changes. The Comprehensive Rules are authoritative when summaries disagree.
  3. Explain individual card examples using their current type, color identity, and mana value. A card that sounds on-theme may still fall outside the exception.
  4. Separate those rules checks from editorial deckbuilding suggestions. The guides are starting points, not playtested decklists, tournament results, price advice, or power rankings.
  5. Community game-record case studies link to the original tracker and complete list. We verify current construction separately, preserve losses and sample sizes, and identify when the exact historical list revision is unknown. These records are not our own playtesting.

Latest review: . This is an editorial snapshot, not a live connection to Oracle or the banned list.

Checking a disputed interaction

Use the source link beside each card to check its current Oracle wording. Compare the exact card type and color identity with the commander’s exception, then consult the official release notes or a judge if an interaction remains unclear. Updates to Oracle or the rules can change an older guide.
